jostle

One of my favorite verbs is jostle. I always thought of it meant to shake, but the actual definitions for jostle are 1. "to come in rough contact while moving," 2. "to make one's way by pushing or elbowing," 3. "to vie for an advantage or position," 4. "to be in close proximity," and 5. "to pick or try to pick pockets."

The etymology of the word is very interesting. It comes from the Old English word justilen which means "to have sexual relations with." Commonly from justen, to joust, from Old French juster.
